As the official destination management organization of the Siouxland area, the mission of The Sioux City Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCRCVB), d.b.a Explore Siouxland, is to connect with hoteliers, attractions and events, increase visitor expenditures and strengthen its communities by advancing economic growth and vitality. We help facilitate tourism-related development, events, overnight stays, and visitor connections in the local economies.
Initiatives
Diversity and Inclusion
Siouxland is a destination that extends a warm welcome to all visitors, and Explore Siouxland is proud to be at the forefront of that vision. We support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, both internally and externally, in our organization and in our community engagement to ensure that individuals of all backgrounds feel respected, heard, and represented.
Mission statement
Explore Siouxland is the official destination marketing organization for the tri-state area. We work to showcase our communities for visitors and residents as they explore everything Siouxland has to offer.
Structure
Formed as the Sioux City Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau in September 2019, the SCRCVB represents the Siouxland region of Western Iowa, Southeast South Dakota, and Northeast Nebraska. A board of directors that includes representatives from the hospitality industries, the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce and members of the community appointed at-large by the board of directors oversees operations and sets strategic direction for the staff.
Funding
The SCRCVB is primarily funded through a 1.65% destination marketing fee paid by guests at member lodging facilities. Additionally there are annual contributions from local city and county governments, as well as local businesses.

βοΈ Remembering United Flight 232 On this day in 1989, Siouxland faced an unimaginable tragedy as United Flight 232 crash-landed at Sioux Gateway Airport. Amid heartbreak and loss, our community rose with courage, compassion, and unity.
We remember the 112 lives lost (111 passengers and 1 crew), honor the 184 survivors, and thank the first responders, medical teams, military personnel, and volunteers who turned a moment of devastation into a powerful story of resilience.
ποΈ Siouxland will never forget.
Visitors can pay tribute at the Flight 232 memorial exhibit at the Mid America Museum of Aviation & Transportation, and at the United Flight 232 Memorial in Chris Larson Park along the riverfrontβboth permanent reminders of bravery, compassion, and hope.
