The Sioux City Sports Commission helps promote youth sports, high school athletic activities, collegiate athletics, Special Olympics, and other non-professional sporting events in the Sioux City area. The Sioux City Sports Commission was created to promote such previous, current, and future events as the NAIA Volleyball National Championship, NAIA Wrestling National Championship, NAIA Div. II Women’s Basketball National Championship, NAIA Baseball World Series Opening Round, USA Wrestling Olympic Team Trials, USHL Fall Classic, NAIA Softball World Series, and others.

To enhance Sioux City’s economy, image, and quality of life through the strategic solicitation, attraction and promotion of sports-related events.
Upcoming Events
The USA Team Handball – Men’s Senior National Team will face Canada in a two-game qualifier series on Friday, Aug. 7 and Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Long Lines Family Recreation Center in downtown Sioux City, Iowa on August 7 and 8. The winner of the two-game series will advance to the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. The Pan American Games serve as the Olympic qualifying event for men’s handball across North and South America, making Team USA vs. Team Canada in Sioux City the official opening stage of LA28 Olympic Qualification.
