POW: Community Based Art and Art in Activism

Event Link

Price:  Free

Date:  May 5, 2025

Time:  5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

This series of interactive workshops provides an opportunity for all community members to join in and engage in meaningful conversation centered around our environment. Local artists will help lead a creative twist by turning these conversations into artwork around Sioux City, Iowa with collaboration from community members.

Our last week will be focusing on how the community can inspire movements through art. Art in activism, also known as “artivism”, has been one strategy to move power and change without having to say anything at all. We will talk about how artivism has been used and how you can tap into this strategy to create the world you want to see.

The goals of this series is to “plant the seed” (pun intended) about how we interact with our environment through community-based art while inspiring thought-provoking ideas and approaches to preserve the world around us.

What we do here in the Siouxland impacts many communities downstream.
