On Saturday, October 25, beginning at 10 a.m., Tom Munson, Archives Manager, and Haley Aguirre, Archival Records Clerk, will guide attendees through historic Floyd cemetery, sharing stories and photos of some of Sioux City’s most influential residents. The tour will start at the main entrance of Floyd Cemetery, located at 2500 E. 7th Street.
Participants should be prepared for moderate walking, including hilly terrain, as the tour covers a broad section of the cemetery grounds.
Founded in 1866, Floyd Cemetery began with a donation of land from John Hagy — a field on a bluff overlooking the Floyd River. The walking tour will include stops at the graves of early settlers, civic leaders, and other prominent figures who helped shape the community.
