Blanket Bee for the Child Advocacy Center

The Unity Point Child Advocacy Center in Sioux City is in need of blankets.
The Center helps over 500 children annually. These blankets provide comfort and safety during a time when it’s so needed.

Art SUX Gallery, artists, friends and family and Art SUX For Kids are partnering to make as many fleece no-tie blankets as we can to donate to The Advocacy Center before the new year.

While many are starting to create at their homes, we would like to hold a “Blanket Bee” in the gallery on December 13th from 10-1.

Friends and family and Art SUX are starting to gather fleece, scissors and will have some on hand. You can bring supplies for your own, or you can help create with donated supplies. It’s easy to do. And it is so special for these children.

If you would like to donate supplies, we need:
—Fleece fabric—1yd panels. (Remember they are for children when choosing patterns)
—Sharp, sewing Scissors

You can drop them off in the gallery Monday-Friday 7-2 and Saturday 8-2 by December 19th.

FYI, The Advocacy Center is currently low on warm, comforting and full of love blankets of all kinds—not just tie blankets. But, ideally, the kids’ favorite types of blankets are the fleece hand-tied blankets. “Staff say it shows that there’s love and thought that went into those blankets for kids.”
