Award-winning author and historian Don Hickey will deliver an illustrated lecture on “James Madison: America’s Fourth President” at the Betty Strong Encounter Center at 2:00 PM on April 6, 2025. Admission is free with a reception to follow.

James Madison was an American statesman, diplomat, and Founding Father who served as the fourth president of the United States from 1809 to 1817. He is best known as the "Father of the Constitution" for his pivotal role in drafting and promoting the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Hickey holds a PhD from the University of Illinois and is a specialist in early American history and American military history.
