On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 2:00pm, the Betty Strong Encounter Center welcomes a visit from President Thomas Jefferson through reenactor Tom Pitz. Admission is free with a reception to follow.
During his talk, Thomas Jefferson reflects back on the events that led to the Louisiana Purchase, which ultimately brought Iowa into the United States. Join him at Swann’s Tavern, on July 6,1824 [Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, July 6, 2024]
Long an aficionado of Revolutionary Era history, Tom Pitz has been performing as Mr. Jefferson since 1987. He considers it an honor and a privilege to bring one of America’s greatest historical figures back to life for audiences.
