Travel back to a time when steam locomotives powered across the country. The museum is one of the largest remaining steam locomotive servicing terminals in the nation and houses Sioux City’s iconic steam engine, Great Northern 1355, also known as “Ironhorse.” Enjoy hands-on exhibits, educational displays about steam technology and the ability to see how the restored roundhouse functioned as a repair shop for the Milwaukee Road’s fleet of steam locomotives, freight cars and passenger cars.
